"I got WORMS!!"

Don't worry. No one here is hosting a parasite. That's what Anna shouted yesterday evening when we were in CVS. She's had $3 that Granny Jeanne gave her in her Easter card and it's been burning a hole in her pocket. We've been telling her she could pick out something at a store soon. Last night after dinner, we decided to enjoy the lovely spring evening and take a walk around Old Town. We took her to CVS to make her very first purchase. Daddy was supervising the shopping while I was strolling a fussy Joshua around the store. I came out of the hair product aisle, nearly colliding with Anna who was running towards me flashing a bag of gummy worms and exclaiming, "I got WORMS!" I burst out laughing. I couldn't help it. Several other customers heard the "double entendre" and grinned as well. I also couldn't help but be reminded of the same line from Dumb and Dumber. Oh, dear. That's embarrassing to admit. She had also picked out a bottle of bubbles and proudly marched up to the cashier to make the transaction. I wished I had a camera. She was beaming as she handed over her cash. I then realized maybe we should get her a piggy bank and teach her the concepts of saving and tithing. For now, she's very happy with her worms and bubbles.

Baby Brudder is 6 weeks old today and doing well. And yes, he's definitely smiling now, and making those cute baby sounds. He's so sweet and cuddly! I promise some new photos will appear soon! Maybe I'll even manage to capture one of his adorable smiles.

He might have smiled...

This afternoon Joshua and I were hanging out on the sofa. He had just eaten and was lying on the Boppy pillow. We were chatting. He gave me a couple of cute coos and he was looking into my eyes while I talked to him and made faces and....I think he smiled. It was one of those baby faces where they open their mouths and it sort of looks like they smile when they close it and then there was a little grin. I don't know. It might have been just a random movement, but Anna smiled at 4 weeks, so it's not impossible. He's definitely getting more fun as he stays awake longer and focuses his pretty blue eyes on things. Unfortunately, some of those longer wake times happen at night, too. When did your babies start smiling?

Here are some photos from the past week or so.

His first real bath. Not a fan...yet.

Anna and her Easter basket.

I think Big Sister will teach him to smile!

Going on 3 Weeks...

It's hard to believe Joshua will be 3 weeks old tomorrow. It has all seemed like a blur, but a very sweet, sometimes stressful, often sleepless blur. We've been blessed to have eased into our transition with Nanny here for 2 weeks, and then Grammie here for a few days. Plus, John's long weekends, which have totally spoiled me, have also been even more appreciated. Today is my first day as a sola mommy of 2! It's

Both of my children (I love that I can say plural "children" now!!) are doing well. Joshua has surpassed his birth weight and grown an inch already! Anna loves being a big sister and is so helpful to fetch me things as needed. I'd say overall she's adjusting well. Of course, she has her typical off-times, which we all do, and sometimes they're a lot louder, a little longer and more intense. But, by God's grace, we'll make it. She hasn't asked me to take the baby back yet, as I've heard other older siblings say. She may yet, but in fact, at lunch today she was asking me when God will give us another baby....umm....not my first thought as I stumble out of bed to feed Joshua in the middle of the night.

Anyway, here are some photos. We've had so many fun visitors already! Joshua has also already enjoyed his first metro ride into DC for the Cherry Blossom Parade this past Saturday. He's made a cameo appearance at church and the mall, as well as our church play group. I believe he slept through all of these events.

I promise...I don't feel as badly as I look in these pics; just a little tired. It's getting better.

The Carlsons came by for a quick visit while they were in the area with family. Abigail is 100% adorable!

Meeting Miss Sara, Mommy's roomie from a "few" years ago. :-)

Anna perfected her parade wave at the Cherry Blossom Parade.

A proud Papa John!
